Backup Database

Movies by CraigWorks can be configured to backup its database and images to another directory. On first backup to a new directory, the system does a complete backup of the database and images. Subsequent backups to this directory will perform an incremental backup of images and a full backup of the database. The database is always backed up in full because its size does not warrant an incremental backup.

Backup Now

To perform a backup enter the Maintenance screen by clicking on the icon. Click on the "Backup Database" utility on the left bar. Enter the location of the backup directory. This directory must be accessible by the computer running the server. Then click on "Backup Now" to immediately perform a backup. You may also click on "Save Backup Parameters" to save your backup directory for next time.

When the backup is in progress, an indicator displays next to the "Backp Database" utility and also on the Backup's log tab. You can click on the log tab to see in-progress status of the backup. You can continue using the system even when a backup is running.

You can cancel a in-progress backup by clicking on the "Cancel Backup" button. In the log your will see a entry indicating the backup was cancelled. The log will always show the entries for the last or in-progresss backup.

When a backup is complete you will see "Backup complete" entry in the log. If an error occurs during the backup, you will see an error entry in the log.

Scheduled Backups

Movies by CraigWorks supports daily and weekly scheduled backups. To configure scheduled backup click on "Enable Scheduled Backups" checkbox and select a frequency of Daily or Weekly. For daily backups, enter the time you would like the backup to run. Similarly, for weekly backups enter the day of the week and time you would like the backup to run. The server (must be running) will start a backup when this time passes.
