In version 0.1.8 and up you can configure where your media files are located by specifying directories and file extensions. With this information the system can provide file path autocompletion for "DVD File" and "Blu-Ray File" fields when entering a movie. Also, this configuration is a prerequisite to allow VLC to access media files through the server.
Setting up Media File Locations
Click on the
icon at the top of the page to enter the Settings Page. Next, click on "[Default]" to modify application settings and then click the "media" tab.
This brings you to the "Media File Locations" page. To add a location click on the "Add" button next to the label "Directories." This adds a row in the table below and allows you to enter the directory path, whether to include files in this directory or exclude them, and to include subdirectories. The order in which the directories are entered does not matter. When determining valid media files, the system always applies include directory filters before excluded directory filters.
To add an extension click on the "Add" button next to the label "File Extensions". Enter the file extensions of the media files you want the system to be aware of. Some common media file extension are: mpg, avi, mkv, m2ts, and iso.
The system will maintain a list of all valid media files based on the directories and extensions you provide here. Changes made to files under the locations are monitored by the system and applied to the internal list. If for some reason the list becomes out of sync, use the "Force Refresh" button to rebuild the list.
You can also refresh the internal list in the "Modify Movie Page" by clicking on the refresh icon next to the DVD or Blu-ray file fields.
