Background Images for Existing Titles

First, thanks for the background image feature in 0.1.9a release to which I recently upgraded. This is an awesome feature.

The new movies I add via the add page or "batch import movies" loads the background image by default.

I want to update the background image for the existing movies (200+ in my collection) in batch. They don't have background images for those movies as those were added in a older craigworks release. Is there any possible way to load background images for all the titles that dont have one.

A Resume button for series

The application already keeps track of where you are in a particular episode (an awesome feature btw!). For TV series it would be nice if there was a Resume button that would immediately take you to the last episode watched.

When looking at a single movie it has a Play button right under the movie. For TV series there could be a Resume button in the same location.

Adding Randomness to Custom Lists

The search feature of the application works great when you know what you're looking for.

What I'm looking for is a list that will populate with some randomly selected movies from the database. e.g. Sometimes I'm wanting to watch a movie but am not sure which one. I'd like to be able to go to this list and each time I refresh the screen there would be new options.

Another thing that might be useful is a "Random" flag on the custom lists. As it is now, each list displays the movies in the same order every time. If the "Random" flag was set then each time you display the list it would be in a different order. e.g. we have a list showing movies recommended for kids < 8. If my kids are looking at that list (on the home screen) then they see the same 7 movies and have to arrow to the right to see more. The movies at the end of the list probably aren't watched much.

More Relaxed Filters for Lists

Instead of trying to explain this one I will just give you an example.

I have a custom list labeled as "TV Series".
In this list I would like to create 2 filters.

Filter 1. DVD File | contains | TV Series
Filter 2. Blu-ray File | contains | TV Series

The idea would be to allow any file that has "TV Series" in the path to be added to this list.
Currently if both filters are set nothing is found because no titles have both a DVD and a Blu-ray file path.
In some cases both filters may need to be in use, in this case some kind of option is needed to allow filter 2 to take effect only if a title does not match filter 1.

Movies divided in 2 parts

Hi everybody!
I have some movies that are divided in 2 parts (CD1 and CD2)...when i try to import them, the application gets just the first one and give an error (file already imported) for the second part. Do i need to adjust something on the row format? any advices about this?

Additional Meta Fetchers & Fetchers Options

Add additional meta fetchers, specifically www.themovidedb.org and www.thetvdb.com
Add options for a user to select which fetcher is primary and secondary, I think 2 sets of options would be needed, one set for movies and another for tv series.

Online Database dont work

Guys I can not run the database on other computers. Local network works, but not on the internet. Why?
I think I did everything right. I Have done:

1) Oper port 80
2)Installed JE
3)Installed VLC 1.0.4 and integrated it on IE9
4) Download CW Archive
5) Modified JE source string (because i'v have a 64 bit OS...Windows 7)
6) Added "cwmservice32" in Windows Firewall Exclusions
7) Run cwmservice32
8) Run "InstallService"

Customize Home Screen

It would be nice to have the ability to show more than 2 custom lists at a time on the home screen.

btw, you've done an awesome job on this! I've been looking for an application like this for a couple years.

Sorting Titles

Add an option on the movie edit page for a sorting title.
In this field you could specify a unique title that would be used only by the sorting filter, the original title would still be the title displayed.
The sorting filter would need to ignore the sorting title when left blank.

Examples below sorted alphabetically without a sorting title.

Original Title: Rambo (2008) | Rambo: First Blood (1982) | Rambo: First Blood Part II (1985) | Rambo III (1988)

Examples below sorted alphabetically with a sorting title.

Save Play History Per User

Currently the play history is showing the combined history of all users.
Would be nice to have this only show the history of the user currently logged in.
This would also need to effect the last played position of movies which is also currently a combined history of all users.

Issue with Import Movies Feature

I am having a problem with the import movie feature of the application.
Below is an example of the issue and how to work around it.

File Path: \\192.168.1.5\Movies\DVD\Death Warrant (1990)\Death Warrant (1990).mkv
File Path with Identify Info: \\192.168.1.5\Movies\DVD\Death Warrant (1990)\Death Warrant (1990).mkv|Death Warrant (|1990||||

Notice the the "(" character exists in the year however ")" at the end of the year has been removed.
Without manually removing the remaining "(" character no title match is being found when the import tries to fetch meta data.

Sorting Rules Do Not Effect Files Manually Added

When manually adding files to a custom list they are not obeying the sorting rules that are applied.

Example: I have a custom list labeled as "TV Series", this list has a filter set as "Blu-ray File | contains | TV Series , this list also has a
filter set to sort by title ascending.
Items that are automatically added to the list by the filter that is set are obeying the sort option that is set to sort alphabetically.
If I then add items manually to this list they are placed below items found by the filter and are left in the order that I have added them.

Is it Possible for VLC to Re-encode Videos to Lower Quality?

I think VLC supports re-encoding videos but I have no idea what options would need to be passed to VLC to make this work.
My problem is I am unable to stream HD videos over the internet due to my 3.5 Mbps upload stream.
DVDs are small enough that I can stream without problems however HD content just plays through the buffer, stops to rebuffer and plays again, rinse and repeat.

Any suggestions to get around this or is a faster connection the only cure?

Love this Program, Have a Couple Questions Though

First of all I would like to say that Movies by CraigWorks is awesome!
I just happening to stumble upon this application last week, spent a few days setting everything up.
I do have a couple questions however.

Subtitles are not playing for me and by default the subtitle track is not selected even though in the mkv file the subtitle track is flagged as default, this is the same behavior you would see if playing the file directly in VLC so maybe there is some setting to auto select the default subtitle track if one exists?
I've figured out that the required build of VLC will not play these type of subtitles, it gives an error that it does not support the "undf" format.
I don't suppose there is any kind of fix for this, I know newer versions of VLC support this format but break streaming.

What is the preferred method for submitting bug reports and suggestions, the forums or through the website?

Apple TV streaming

I'm not sure when this stopped working, but using an iPad to redirect the stream to an AppleTV no longer works. I'm prompted with an error message whenever I try to redirect. This happens for both dvd and blu ray rips.

Delete casts that have no profile picture

When importing movies I set the number of casts to be imported to 30 person. This give me more insight and details about the movies I'm about to watch. Many of the imported casts, however, including few persons which carry very little role in the movie (for example as pedestrian, police officer, bartender, old man, dancer, medic, etc) were also imported. These people sometimes not even credited in the end of the movie. Since IMDb sometimes put the actor/actress list in order of appearance instead of the role they carry, CraigWorks import and store these information anyway.

These people have no profile pics. I like to keep my CraigWorks clean, neat and tidy, so sometimes I remove these "irrelevant" people from the cast list. But having about 2000 of movies, this job quickly become tedious.

I hope it's not asking too much, but I really like if this option is available. Yeah, it sounds silly, I know.

Some epic movies are just too loooooong and really hard to find 1 CD version, for example the Lord of the Rings collection, The Godfather, etc. They all come with CD1 and CD2.

Any chance CW will have this option?

P/S: I dont wanna mix them up with TV Shows.

Scraping Movies

Scraping movies from IMDB takes a lot of time to complete. From loading movie posters to pictures of each actor it takes a lonnnggg time to add a movie. (and the bandwidth of course).

1) Is there any other way to control this scraping? Users can be provided be options to select the level of scraping. eg) Minimal, Moderate, Detailed.
An actor can have 10 images in IMDB. But some users might want to import just one image instead of everything.

2) Can we choose scraper other than IMDB?

3) Can support be added for Movie Organiser (http://www.movieorganizer.com/). Using this software I have scraped around 50 movies within an hour. But the inbuilt IMDB scraping in craigworks takes half-an-hour to scrap a single movie. (At 50kbps).

Hi everyone and admin.

I been using CraigWorks apps for about 2 weeks now and very satisfied with it. Plus it's free. I really am thankful for admin for sharing this awesome app.

I noticed however, (maybe) a bug when importing some actors from IMDb.

These people are popular. It's impossible for IMDb to not have their profiles.

So I did a little observation. Some of these actor that CraigWorks failed to import mostly have a Roman numerals behind their names, in brackets. Here are some of them:
- Tim Robbins (I)
- Chris Evans (V)
- Adam Sandler (I)
- Drew Barrymore (I)
- Donald Sutherland (I)
- Anne Hathaway (I)
-Bradley Cooper (I)
- Jennifer Garner (I)
- Morgan Freeman (I)
- Michael J. Fox (I)

and so on.

However, some of the actors also cannot be imported for an unknown reason. When editing their profiles manually, I got this error:
"Person had problems importing. The following problems occurred: Could not read page. Bruce Willis: IMDB Person site may have changed."

Here are some of em:

Hide Media Location

There are certain reason why I would like this option to exist and it really will help me very much.

What's coming in release 0.1.8?

Next release will mostly likely be 0.1.8.

For sure the following will be in:
- Import movies by UPC code from DVDEmpire. Retrieves DVD cover art, video release date, title, and year.
- Import "Movie Release Date" from IMDB instead of Allmovie.com IMDB keeps release dates by country so in settings there is a new field to set your release date country.
- Improvements to Media Player position sliders (especially in FF4). And better positioning using the Remote Controller feature.

Might be in 0.1.8:
- In maintenance page, there will be a new section to specify media file locations. It should have the options to include/exclude directories and files. Directories will have an additional option to recurse sub-directories. This will be used by all other maintenance jobs.
- Enable autocomplete of media files in DVD/Blu-Ray location fields in "Modify Movie Page". The media files are gathered based on the media file locations entered in the maintenance page.

Future release
- Monitor media file changes (i.e. additions, deletions, and renames) and facilitate movie imports or deletions, and updates of locations in existing movies.

Unable to play movies

ok i have everything working 100% now with the exception that when i click on play it loads the webplayer and displays this message:

This happens to just about all movies in my DB, even ones i have not played before using MbC.
I am using VLC 1.0.4, IE9, Win 7, Firefox 5

Login Auth

a login auth woudl be great, and with that these would also have to be included to make it tottally secure.

User Levels (Admin, Mod, User)
Admin - Has Full Access to Settings, Add, edit, and Maint. sections
Mod - Has access to only the Add, edit and Maint. sections
User - Has access to NONE of the above sections only able to view Movie lists and the Custom Lists that are created by Admin/Mod

By default all movies are viewable by all levels, but in the add/edit areas would be nice to have the ability to restrict view of spcific movies - ( of course admin can see all no matter what) so check boxes like so

If your not too familier with php i can write the scripts for the login and the sessions then you can incorp with the java that handles the html

so over all it would work like this

once you goto ./CraigWorks/Movies the script would check to see if you are logged in, if not it would display a login page, if you are then it would redirect to the main page with the appropriate user's access rights.
